The London Design Festival

The London Design Event will be held from 13th to 21st September this year (2014). The event features some of the best designs and art from around the world; the event has been celebrated from 25th of March, 2013 till now on yearly basis at London.
A Look Back at History
The London Design Festival first came in envision by Sir John Sorrell and Ben Evans. The idea was simple yet unique to build on London’s existing design activity for an annual event which will promote and bring creativity, drawing of the city’s greatest thinkers, practitioners, retailers and educators to offer a fine piece of celebration of true designs.
The First ever festival was launched on 25th of March in 2003 at Bloomberg with amazing response and support from design, education, government and London organizations. Right from its first success in 2003, London Design Festival has been celebrating each form of pioneering design; Read below on more about each and every festival below.
2012: London Design Festival rejoiced a span of Decade of Design.
2011: From St Paul’s in the east to the V&A of West, Around 350,000 gathered to witness over 300 events
2010: This time the spectators had an opportunity to light-write in Trafalgar Square and roll around the south bank and fill out the V&A for second year running.
2009: “Be enough bold to give a statement.” The identity for 2009’s Festival reflected the Festival’s stance that Master piece can never be unnoticed.
2008: Even the economic turn down could not make audience interest even a bit drooping.
2007: The Festival commissions its foremost Landmark projects, the inaugural London Design Medal was bagged by Zaha Hadid and diverse “design districts” started to appear.
2006: Unwrapped by Sir Terence Conran, the 2006 festival was greeted by about 300,000 people.
2005: The third London Deisgn Festival was well responded by the people and reflected capital’s cultural calendar. Gordon Brown came along to pay tribute to it for “Cradling the British Genius.”
2004: The London Design Festival was doubled with full pack enthusiastic crowd.
2003: The UK was “an ideas goldmine”. And the London Design Festival gave a platform to show it to the world.
